The Department of Ancient History, Archaeology and Culture was established in 1971. Shri K.B. Singh was the founding Head of the department and a person of high reputation and integrity. He was the primary driving force behind the development of the department. Dr. Vijay Bahadur Singh was also an esteemed faculty member of the department. Currently, Prof. Shailendra Pratap Singh heads the department and is a respected member of the board of studies at Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya. He is the product of the Central University of Allahabad. Additionally, Shree Vinay Kumar Vishwakarma, Dr. Prabhat Kumar Shrivastava and Dr. Shiv Bhole Mishra are the other three faculty members of the department. All faculty members are well-qualified and dedicated to providing quality and value-based education. Dr. Singh also supervises research scholars of Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University. The department regularly holds special lectures, seminars and group discussions to enhance the knowledge of students. Its aim extends beyond formal education to shape students into better citizens. With the help and guidance of the faculty members, many students have qualified for the UGC NET examinations. Additionally, many students have secured promising jobs in various departments.

The Department of Political Science is one of the oldest departments of Rana Pratap P.G. College. The department came into existence in 1971 along with the establishment of the College. Initially, during the first three decades, only the U.G. course was offered in the department and study at the P.G. level was started in 2004 under the self-finance scheme. Dr. K.N. Verma was its first faculty member and Head of the department. Devoted to studying the phenomenon of politics in both its theoretical and practical aspects, the department offers UG and PG programs according to the New Education Policy 2020. The UG and PG programs aim to help students comprehend major theories of political science and international relations, along with analysis of the nature and dynamics of the political process, political systems, and foreign policy. Additionally, these courses support students in better preparation for competitive examinations in union and provincial civil services as well as the private sector. The department comprises four faculty members: Dr. Abhay Singh is the current Head of the Department, and Dr. Alok Kumar Pandey, Dr. Manju Thakur and Dr. Anjana Singh are the other three esteemed faculty members. Dr. Singh and Dr. Pandey also serve as research supervisors. The department regularly holds special lectures, seminars and group discussions to enhance the knowledge of students. Its aim extends beyond formal education to shape students into better "citizens." With the help and guidance of the faculty members, many students have qualified for the UGC NET examinations. Additionally, many students have secured promising jobs in various departments.

Planning is an essential part of the betterment in any field. Our Department of Economics wishes academic enhancement through a pre-defined route. The department established in 1971, conducts undergraduate course in the field of Economics. Curriculum designing comes basically under the domain of university. The "Board of Studies" coordinates and finalizes this work. At present, the HOD of the Economics Department is a member of this board. This department has two teachers, who are performing the task of curricular implementation besides some co-curricular and extracurricular activities. It is usually observed that students of different domains and profiles come to the department. Some sort of special attention is provided to the diverse categories of students, like the arrangement of extra classes, fieldwork, tutorials etc.
Every field operation requires a review. In the Department of Economics, we have a work plan for achieving higher objectives. We try to know their learning outcomes through the feedback system and students" real performance. Better management and facilities of the library are provided to the students. Our passed-out students have excelled in different fields, like lectureship, TGT, PGT, SSC and different recruitments. We wish to link our academic activities with social responsibilities as well. Besides these, we intend to provide remedial classes and an "Add on Course" on “Rural Development.” We will try to enhance the competitive skills of our students. We have a plan for an interdisciplinary approach with the help of relevant resource persons.
Our department, established in 1971, had its first HOD under the leadership of Mr. Ghanshyam Sharan Singh. An academician of repute, his contribution to the department is praiseworthy. He retired from the department in 2010. At present, the Economics department has two permanent teachers; Dr. Dhirendra Kumar is the Head of the Economics Department and Shree Sunil Kumar Tripathi is the second faculty member.

The Sanskrit department came into existence in 1971 along with the establishment of Rana Pratap P.G. College. Initially, during the first three decades, only the U.G. course was offered in the department, and study at the P.G. level was started in 2001-2002 academic session under the self-finance scheme. One of the senior professors of the college late Shri Rai Saheb Singh was the first Head of the department. While holding many important administrative posts in the college, he also served as Chairman of R.D.C. in Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University. Our other esteemed faculty member Mr. Radhey Shyam Singh had a good academic background from the University of Allahabad. Both enriched the department immensely with their knowledge and skills for many years. At present the department has four faculty members. Dr. Amit Kumar Tiwari is serving as the Head of the department. Dr. Yashmant Singh, Dr. Nitu Singh and Dr. Bina Singh are the other three faculty members. All faculty members are well-qualified and dedicated to provide quality and value-based education. Dr Tiwari is also supervising research scholars of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya. Additionally, the department regularly organizes special lectures, seminars, and group discussions in the college. The Sanskrit department aims not only to impart formal education but also to cultivate better citizenship among its students.

The Department of English of Rana Pratap P.G. College was established in 1971 with the inception of the institution. Shri Rajendra Pratap Singh was the founder faculty member and Head of the department. It has earned a spectacular reputation for being one of the finest departments of the town. The department strives to scrutinize the finest brains based on merit and we work progressively at helping them attain their aim and walking them towards their goals. The department has gained immense prestige for being the crux of excellence and discipline. It firmly believes that the essence of teaching is regulated by the mentors and this stance is established by our incredibly talented faculty members. We incessantly work for a creative outlook towards teaching, research and academia in the province of English literature. Currently, Prof. Nisha Singh is the Head of the Department. Mrs. Jyoti Saxena is another faculty member. The department offers English literature as a major and minor subject at the undergraduate level under a choice-based credit system (CBCS) aligned with NEP 2020. Apart from that, research scholars are diligently pursuing their research work under the guidance of Prof. Nisha Singh. The Department of English aims to inculcate the cultural values of the nation amongst the students and to build self-reliant and confident citizen of India.

The Department of Urdu was established in 1972-73, with Qazi Afzal Hussain serving as the first faculty member and Head of the Department. Later, he moved to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and became the Vice Chancellor of the University as well. Dr. Samiullah succeeded him as the next faculty member. Since 2002, Dr. Mehmood Alam Khan has been serving as Head of the Department of Urdu. The department offers an undergraduate programme in Urdu literature both as a major and minor subject, under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) aligned with the New Education Policy 2020.

The history of the Sociology Department is as old as the college itself. With the dignified establishment of the college in 1971, the study of sociology as an important subject started at the undergraduate level. Dr. Mahendra Pratap Singh, a renowned scholar of sociology, was appointed as the first faculty member and first Head of the Department. In 1986, an important turning point came in the department when study at the postgraduation level was started. In 1986, Dr. Shushil Kumar Gautam and Dr. M.P. Singh Bisen were appointed as Lecturers marking a pivotal moment that furthered teaching and research within the department. The hard work of the faculty members have been very fruitful as about fifty students from the department have obtained Ph.D. degrees and are serving in various colleges and universities. At present, one Professor and five Assistant Professors are working/teaching in the department. The department is equipped with all modern facilities and is touching new heights under the new education policy 2020 implemented by the University Grant Commission.

The Hindi department of the college is one of the oldest and the prestigious departments of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya. Since the establishment of the college in 1971, the study and teaching of Hindi language and literature have been going on at the undergraduate level. Additionally, since 2001, the study of Hindi literature has extended to the postgraduate level under the self-financed scheme. Dr. Dhirendra Bahadur Singh, Dr. Rajeshwar Singh and Shri Lal Chandra Singh were noteworthy faculty members of the department. Presently, there are five faculty members in the department. Dr. Indramani Kumar, the Head of the Department, has a specialization in Adhunik Sahitya. Dr. Ranjana Patel and Dr. Vibha Singh are specialized in Katha Sahitya. Mr. Gyanendra Vikram Singh"s intervention is in Patrkarita and Prayojanmulak Hindi. Dr. Gyanendra Pratap Singh has a specialization in Hindi Upanyas. Many of our students are making significant contributions across various societal fields while engaging in their studies, teaching, and research. At present, six research scholars are pursuing their research work in the department. The Department of Hindi consistently endeavours to cultivate innovative thinking, creativity, and new ideas through the study and teaching of Hindi literature.

The department helps the students to understand and analyze theoretical and practical aspects, challenges, and problems related to defence and strategic dimensions, both within India and globally. Department of Geography envisions empowering students with knowledge and skills for spatial thinking and analysis to navigate into real-world problems and contribute to society in a meaningful way. The department is one of the oldest and most renowned geography departments in Sultanpur district. The department traces its origin to 1972-73 with the introduction of U.G. courses under the leadership of Dr. Harishankar Singh, the founder of the Geography Department. Under his guidance, the P.G. course was introduced in 1986-87. Dr. Hukum Singh, Dr. Govind Prasad Gupta, late Dr. Prem Shankar Singh, late Mr. Satya Prakash Srivastava have also contributed to the development of the department. Under the guidance of these mentioned teachers, many scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degrees. Several books have been published by the teachers of the department. The U.G. and P.G. courses offered by the Geography Department also assist students in preparing better for competitive examinations. The departmental library also supports students in excelling in geography-related fields. The department currently has four faculty members. Currently, Dr. Manoj Kumar Yadav is the Head of the department. Dr. Pushkar Pratap Tiwari is the other eminent faculty member of the department. The undergraduate course at the B.Sc. level is being taught in the department. The department strives to provide quality education in Chemistry. It promotes critical knowledge in the field of chemical science. There is a departmental library which facilitates the students. It has also a well-equipped and furnished laboratory which provides all the instruments and materials required for practical work. Department of Commerce was established in 2003 with the inspiration of Advocate, Shri Sanjay Singh, President of Rana Prata P.G. College; Narsingh Pal Singh, Manager of RPPG College and Dr. S.B. Singh, Principal of RPPG College. Initially, the college got temporary affiliation for 300 seats from Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya, but later on in 2006, it was made permanent. As guest lecturers, Dr. R.P. Singh, Dr. Shailesh Singh, Dr. Dharamveer Singh made serious efforts in establishing the department. B. Com. has been the popular U.G. course of Rana Pratap P.G. College. Whatever is learnt in the classroom is directly applicable to working life and the marketplace. It emphasizes on an interactive teaching and learning environment necessitated by the use of presentations, role plays, case studies, group discussions, educational excursions, and the use of e-resources in teaching subjects like business economics. The Faculty of Education (B.Ed. Programme) was established in the session 2008-09 in Rana Pratap P.G. College, Sultanpur by order of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) under the self-finance scheme. The bachelor of education programme generally known as B.Ed. is a professional course that imparts training for becoming teachers in schools. All the faculty members are well qualified, energetic, and have dignified approaches of teaching. They work enthusiastically to ensure their availability for advice, guidance, dialogue and consultation, when needed. The departmental programme is designed to integrate the study of the subject"s knowledge, human development, pedagogical knowledge, and communications skills. The department has three broad curricular areas: perspective in education and pedagogic studies, engagement with field and school internship. The department is always very careful about school internships where students are to be actively engaged in teaching for 16 weeks in the final year of the course.
